- Gig Game Announcements
At Gig Games, we’re always looking for ways to make our games faster, more reliable, and ready to scale with our community. This weekend, we’re taking an important step toward that goal.
📅 Scheduled Maintenance Window
January 31 - February 1, 2026
During this window, we’ll be migrating our backend infrastructure to a new dedicated bare-metal server environment at Atlantic.Net.
What’s happening?
We are moving Gig Games’ core services from our current hosting environment to dedicated physical hardware (bare metal). This is a major infrastructure upgrade that gives us full control over system resources like CPU, memory, and storage.
Because this is a live migration of production systems:
- You may experience brief downtime
- Some services may feel slower than usual during the transition
- Gameplay, matchmaking, or account-related features may be intermittently unavailable
We’ll be monitoring everything closely and working to keep disruptions as minimal and short as possible.
Why are we doing this?
As Gig Games grows, so do the demands on our servers. Multiplayer games and real-time systems need consistent performance, low latency, and high reliability - especially during peak hours.
Moving to Atlantic.Net’s dedicated bare-metal servers allows us to:
- Eliminate “noisy neighbor” performance issues
- Guarantee CPU and memory resources
- Run our services on dedicated hardware built for mission-critical workloads
- Prepare our infrastructure for future growth and new features
In short: this upgrade gives us a stronger foundation to build on.
What does this mean for players?
Once the migration is complete, you can expect:
🚀 Better Performance
More consistent responses and smoother gameplay - especially during busy periods.
🔒 Improved Reliability
Dedicated hardware means fewer unexpected slowdowns and greater system stability.
📈 Room to Grow
This move sets us up for larger player counts, new game modes, and more ambitious features without sacrificing performance.
🛠️ Faster Fixes & Updates
With full control over our environment, we can deploy updates, patches, and optimizations more efficiently.
Thank you for your patience
We know that downtime - even brief - isn’t ideal, and we truly appreciate your patience while we make this upgrade. This migration is a long-term investment in the quality and future of Gig Games.
We’ll share updates during and after the migration, and once everything is complete, we’re excited for you to experience the improvements.
As always, thank you for playing and supporting Gig Games. 🎮💙
